page created 14/11/99 by Andy Graham I have just received the minutes from the last branch meeting of the Lothian and Borders branch of the RSPBA held in a hotel in the west end of Edinburgh on Sunday 24th October. Rather than bore you all with the details...here are the *highlights*..... as read.... without comment ......... Matters arising:- The dates of the Branch contests are as follows, SOLO PIPING and DRUMMING contest 22nd April 2000 at Craigmount High School. Dunbar 13th May, Penicuik 21st May, Bathgate 27th May, Marie Curie parade and contest 5th August. North Berwick may be held on 6th August but this has to be confirmed. Macmerry have indicated that they would like to hold a grade four contest at the end of July. Information has been sent to them. The costs of purchasing a lap top computer and printer for use at Branch contest compiling is to be looked into. National Council Report:- A new finance committee has been formed. There is currently some £73000 in the bank. Of this £1500 is due in VAT. This figure also includes the £11500 loaned by the Branches. The finances of the Association are looking much healthier than they were last year at this time. It was said that bands not having paid their subscriptions by 30th November would be suspended by the Association and would therefore be unable to participate in any Branch activities. It was suggested that a penalty be applied for late payers. The World Solo Drumming contest will take place in February 2000 at Bathgate Academy. The format will be the same as before. This will be sponsored by Andante. AOCB:- The structured learning advanced course starts with a Registration and Enrolment day on Sunday 31st October at 10 am in Edinburgh Academy . the Elementary and Intermediate courses start on 9th January. There will be an Information day at Edinburgh Academy on Sunday 2nd January. The branch's diamond Jubilee Dance , to be held on 5th November, has been cancelled. This is due to the appalling response from the Branch bands. Only 35 tickets had been sold. The Branch now has to pay £40 in compensation to Kirkliston Bowling Club and might also have to compensate the caterer and the dance band. Torphichen and Bathgate's Solo Piping and Drumming contest will take place in Bathgate Academy on Saturday 12th February 2000. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Changes of grade:
Novice Juvenile to Juvenile, Stewarts Melville, Arbroath, Dunoon Grammar
School, Inverness Schools. THE ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING WILL TAKE PLACE ON SUNDAY 28TH NOVEMBER IN THE WEST END HOTEL, EDINBURGH, AT 3 PM |
