The AGM of the Lothian and Borders branch of the RSPBA took place at a hotel in the west end of Edinburgh at 3o'clock in the afternoon of  Sunday 28th November 1999.


The turn out was pretty dismal with only 18 people attending, only one Pipe Major from branch bands attended.



'Highlights' from the minutes.

Chairmans remarks:-
2 events planned to mark the 1999 diamond jubilee had to be cancelled. The competition at Hopetoun House due to lack of sponsership, and a dance due to lack of interest.

92% pass rate out of 58 who sat RSPBA elementary and intermediate structured learning exams.

All branch outdoor contests continue to be well attended, Penicuick was a new contest for grade 4 and was reasonably successful. (!)

Branch contests for 2000
 Dunbar 13/5: Penicuik 21/5: Bathgate 27/5: N Berwick 6/8: Melrose 19/8: Peebles 10/9.
Majors
 Euro Ayr 20/5: Brits Ashbourne 24/6: Worlds Glasgow 12/8: Cowal Dunoon 26/8: Scots Arbroath 2/9.

World solo drumming Bathgate Academy 26/2.

Due to the financial mess of the RSPBA the branches where asked to help, L+B loaned £1000.

Secs report:-
 Solo Piping Drumming and Mini band contest Saturday 22 April 2000 at Craigmount High School.

23 bands have paid affiliation fees to date.

Treasurers report:-
£4849.05 in the bank.

Nat councils report:-
Major contests now confirmed and the next meeting of National Council is 4/12/99.

Thats about it, AOCB included the branch being asked to propose to the RSPBA AGM that all National Council, Music Board and Adjudicators meetings be open to Association members.
