Ezee/Wygent Set-up Instructions

Insert the reed tightly into the drone seat. Add waxed hemp to the bottom of the reed to ensure the reed does not wobble, and to ensure an airtight fit.

Reed should sound when blown with the normal pressure to sound the chanter, if reed stops, when blown with normal pressure, then move bridle (only make very small movements of the bridle, even to the extent of simply pushing the bridle without it visibly moving) towards drone (away from the threaded end) to make blade longer, the reed should blow off but only when blown extremeley hard. Reed should double tone as air pressure increases then should settle as the correct pressure is reached.

Bass drone should show 1/8th inch hemp on the top slide and about 1-2 inch up from the mount on the bottom slide (tuning pins). Tenor drones should show 1/8th inch of hemp.

If drone is too low then screw in the end screw to show less thread, a little at a time, if screwed right in then the drone seat will have to be opened to enable the reed to sit further into the drone.

If drone is too high then screw out the end screw to show more thread, a little at a time, if screwed right out then the reed will have to have more hemp applied to it to enable the reed to sit further out.

Once set the reeds should last at least 4 years frequent use.
