If you live in the UK you will know that we are not known as 'rip off Britain' for nothing. With petrol about £4 a gallon, average parking fees £5, average entrance fees £5, add food and drink and even a short journey to a piping competition can easily cost over £100, more if you take the family. People travelling to Scotland are amazed at the sky high costs, decent hotel rooms can easily be £100 a night, (although cheap b&b can be as low as £15) so be prepared. Costs can be significantly reduced by joining a band. Bands provide uniform and transport to competitions and band jobs, free to band members and maybe a small charge for non players. At the games themselves don't expect any toilet facilities, at any price. I will try to price
things as what a learner would pay as he goes along. Prices are about
what I would expect to pay. Practise Chanter Blackwood £45 plastic
